What types of funeral services do we offer?

We offer the complete range from cremation to burial. This page covers the funeral service and burial aspect  (if you’d like to read about our cremation services click here).

A funeral service (whether a burial or cremation) honours the life of the person who has passed away.  The funeral service can be in accordance to the deceased's wishes, preferences of their family or their beliefs, religious or non-religious.  After the funeral service, they would be cremated or buried in a natural burial ground.

As a Funeral Director we (Tailored Funerals) can provide services for:

Funeral procession
Funeral Ceremony
Cremation or burial

We ensure that everything is taken care of in advance, respecting both the deceased and families' wishes to ensure everything is done respectfully and lawfully.  This means on the day of the funeral, you are able to focus on mourning and remembrance of your loved one.

Who can attend a funeral service?

Currently in the COVID-19 world we live in, only up to 30 people attend a funeral. However, no-one should attend a funeral if they are unwell with Corona Virus symptoms.

You can still attend a funeral if:

You're self-isolating because someone in your household has symptoms but you do not have symptoms yourself
You're self-isolating because you've travelled to England in the last 14 days

How do you choose a funeral director?

At first glance, you may think they are all alike, there are too many to choose from, or that you’re tied in because they collected your loved one. But, this is not the case.

When choosing your funeral director think of the following to make sure you find the right one that suits you!  (As you’ll see, this list is unbiased, we just want to ensure you find the right fit for you and your loved one).

  • Take your time

Research services, prices and reviews before shortlisting two or three.

  • Compare services

Make sure they offer what you want, for example,  do you want a non-attended funeral (sometimes called a direct funeral) to keep things simple or do you want a full funeral service with limousine transport, minister, etc.

  • Look at qualifications

Check they are qualified to do the job!  See if they have a Diploma in Funeral Directing with the National Association of Funeral Directors.
Also, ensure they are members of the Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) or the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD). These associations have codes of conduct that their members abide by.

  • Compare prices

Ensure you add disbursements (3rd Party costs) and check what each quote includes (or doesn’t).  Be sure to ask for a full price breakdown before giving any commitment so you know all costs.

  • Someone who makes you comfortable and at ease

This can be a very traumatic time, your chosen funeral director will share a deeply personal moment in your life that you will never forget.  Feeling comfortable with the funeral director we feel is one of the most important elements.  You’ll feel more at ease because they're at the funeral, comforted that they’ve respected your wishes and supported by their personal care
